What inspired this photo?
 
I shot this photo of the lower part of the façade of Chartres’ cathedral in France during a European trip in 2018. I am all but a religious person and have no resonance with Christianity. I am, however, aware of ley lines and powerful energetical centers and nodes of our planet Terra. Chartres is one of these amazing powerful places.

This shot is called “Les géants” (“The giants” in French) as a play of words, because visually, it shows immense biblical figures sculpted in stone, but most of all because it is for me a homage to the artisans and artists that worked blood, sweat and tears on this magnificent building. They brought beauty, high frequencies and honored the true essence of this energetical center.

The beautiful orange light of the sunset creates a fascinating and powerful contrast between the well-lit giant religious stone figures in the back, while at the forefront and in the shadows, stands a higher giant, discretely nested in stone columns. To me, symbolically, he represents all these silent heroes and creative giants, these silent workers with a great knowledge of the harmony of forms that have anonymously created such beauty in our world.
